Coconut Palm Sugar for Weight Loss

Coconut palm sugar is a great substitute for white sugar. It is also great for weight loss and for your overall health given the fact that it doesn't spike your blood sugar the way that white sugar does. It has a very nice flavor and can be used in your baking and even as a sweetener for your tea or coffee.

Like any sugar of course it should be consumed in moderation, but at least it has some nutritional benefits which is more than can be said for white sugar or even brown sugar for that matter.

Coconut Palm Sugar vs White Sugar

This tasty sweetener contains minerals such as calcium, potassium, zinc and iron. It also contains some short chain-fatty acids such as polyphenols and antioxidants. It doesn't cause blood sugar spikes like white sugar has the tendency to do.

White sugar not only causes blood sugar spikes leading to poor health and weight gain but it also has no nutrition. White sugar weakens the immune system by putting the white blood cells under attack.

These chocolate chip cookies are so decadent that I simply can't keep them in my house. My little granddaughter loves them. I use sprouted spelt flour in them which makes them even healthier. Refined flour also wreak havoc on your waistline and your health. For more on spelt you can click on the link.

What is Coconut Palm Sugar

This tasty sugar comes from the sap of the coconut palm tree. The sap is actually taken from the flowers of the tree. Even though this sugar has the same amount of calories and carbohydrates as regular sugar it has less fructose and glucose, 20 % less actually.

This caramel colored sugar tastes like brown sugar. It has no weird aftertaste whatsoever which makes it great for sweetening with and it also has a great consistency for baking.

Bottom Line

This doesn't mean that the only sweets you can ever eat are fruits, although if that's all one wishes to consume, all the power to them since they are by far the healthiest. However, you can still have baked goods in moderation just as long as you make them wholesome containing the right sweeteners and the right grains.
